Mocked by the Enemy
Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity!
Sanballat and Tobiah continually mocked the people of God. It is not unusual for enemies to insult the servants of God. Jesus, a Servant to mankind was mocked by Roman soldiers (Matthew 27:27-31). Jesus was also ridiculed and mocked by the rabble when He was crucified and in excruciating pain. Once the people had praised Him, but at His crucifixion they mocked Him:
And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross” (Matthew 27:39-40).
Seriously, people can turn against you––crowds are fickle, one day they are cheering you and on...
