State of the Church
Our nation began in radical times. Events and circumstances demanded radical measures. God-fearing men and women risked their lives and their families to stand for what they believed. These men and women used their faith in God, the principles of the Bible, and the power of the Holy Spirit to guide them.
For almost two centuries our nation operated on the timeless moral and spiritual values of the Scriptures. Places of worship became the hub of every American community. Fear of God became the motivation and personal conviction for individual integrity, hard work, and community service.
But the times have changed radically again–and this time from the inside. Because the church desires to be accepted by all people, it has compromised and lost much of its power to influence the American culture in a positive way. Due to its’ compromised position, Christianity, once our nation's heritage, is openly mocked and ridiculed in every public arena.
Like the times our forefathers faced in 1776, events and circumstances of the 1990s demand radical measures. The Christian church in America needs to get out of the world's bed and set itself apart for God's use in a serious way. It needs to kick down its own decaying walls of tradition and go after the lost and dying like a spiritual ambulance.
The message of salvation, hope, peace and love in Jesus Christ is still true. It is the only message that really works. The Word possesses that message, and since the world isn't coming to the church anymore to hear about it, the church needs to take that message to the world–starting in our own backyards.
But we've all got to wake up to those around us, and start to see people as souls. That's what Somebody Loves You Ministries is all about–waking up the church, and telling people that Jesus loves them!
